Chalmers University of Technology

Chalmers University of Technology manages the surfactant synthesis to secure chemical routes that are solvent-free and compatible with up-scaling. In depth physicochemical characterization of the surfactants is conducted and enables assessing the performance of the surfactants. To that end, CUT lead2 WP2 “Synthesis and physicochemical characterization of surfactants” and have a close discussion with all others WPs to ensure that the design and the performances of the new biobased surfactants meets the requirements of the partners.

Romain Bordes – Associate Professor

Romain Bordes is Associate Professor in Surface Chemistry and is leading a research group at the division of Applied Chemistry at Chalmers University of Technology (Gothenburg, Sweden). With a background in surfactant chemistry, his work spans surface-active materials, nanocellulose, advanced colloidal systems and cultural heritage conservation, among others. His research activities bridge fundamental research and real-world applications in surface chemistry, material science, and environmental technologies.

Krister Holmberg – Emeritus Professor

Krister Holmberg has a unique experience of industrial-academic collaboration as well as a very deep knowledge of surfactant science. He is a member of the editorial boards of several international journals and the authors of several books of surface chemistry. He has made significant contributions to the field of surfactants and interfaces.

Frida Bilan – PhD student

Frida Bilén is PhD student in the group of Romain Bordes and has worked on the integration of machine learning in surface sciences. She has experience of the synthesis of biobased surfactants.

Kristina Palmgren – Financial officer

Kristina Palmgren is the financial officer of Applied Chemistry and supports the administrative side of the project for Chalmers.
