Univerzita Tomase Bati Ve Zline (TBU)

TBU mainly participates in WP5 “Sustainability integration” and is responsible for toxicological and antibacterial testing of substances under development. The team conducts the safety determination and evaluation of bio-based surfactants throughout the value chain using advanced hazard assessments. Key activities include testing of antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity or skin irritation using in vitro methods. These efforts guarantee a comprehensive understanding of the hazards associated with the developed substances.

Petr Humpolicek – Professor

Petr Humpolíček’s research interests include assessing the biocompatibility of materials. He was appointed as Professor of Technology of Macromolecular Compounds. Petr Humpolíček recently held the position of principal investigator on a number of research projects examining the interaction between various materials and cells, including the formulations of colloidal systems for topical applications. He is currently supervisor for six doctoral students. ORCID: 0000-0002-6837-687

Vera Kasparkova – Researcher

Vera Kasparkova worked for many years in pharmaceutical research on the development of contrast agents for medical imaging, and in polymer research. She is currently working at TBU, where her research focuses on dispersion systems for encapsulation and release of active substances, and their biological properties. She supervises 2 Ph.D. students. ORCID: 0000-0002-2688-919X

Zdenka Vichova – Associated professor

Zdenka Vichova graduated from TBU with a master’s degree in Food technology, hygiene and chemistry, and continued in doctoral programme Technology of macromolecular compounds. Her thesis focused at in vitro testing of the biological properties of polyaniline. Currently she is working on smart biomaterials and their biological testing. In 2021, she was appointed as an associated professor of Technology of Macromolecular Compounds. She is supervisor of 3 Ph.D. students. ORCID: 0000-0003-3923-5192
